Is a gay rights movement possible in the Arab world? His book was also a finalist for the Hilary Weston Writer’s Trust prize for non-fiction in Canada and the U.S. Lambda Literary Awards in the Gay Memoir/Biography category. Dr. Al-Solaylee is an Associate Professor at the Ryerson School of Journalism and has written for The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Walrus, The National Post, Elle Canada, and Toronto Life.
