With five minutes left, the Voyageurs need to score a basket every 18 seconds to make up the 33 point deficit.
The live-stats page hasn't updated since the end of the first half which is disappointing because they were genuinely hilarious. The second half has been much closer than the first though with Ryerson up only 35-29.
Cara Tiemens goes down hard off a shove. She's a trooper though and got up to take the free two points.
Late in the game and things are getting nasty, bodies are flying everywhere.
That's the buzzer. Final score was 79-42 for the Rams. The 37 points was the Rams largest margin of victory this season.
From the first tip-off the game was never in doubt for the Rams. They were up big from the get-go and never let up. A great game from start to finish, and it's obvious how they've climbed into the top 10 with that effort.
Next up is the men's basketball team hoping to keep the good times rolling here to sweep the double-header against Laurentian.
The men's Rams team is undefeated so far at 4-0 and are the #3 ranked team in the country. Laurentian is in tough, they come into the game 1-2 and in all likelihood will come out of the game 1-3.
Where the Rams excel is on defence. They're #1 in points allowed per game (58.2), rebound margin per game (16.8), opponent field goal percentage (32.5%) and opponent 3-point field goal percentage (22.2%). Basically, they're good.
And that's not to take away from their offensive acumen, where they're sixth in points per game (88.2) and field goal percentage (46.5%).
Let's take it back to the Lady Rams for a second as tonight's boxscore just came in hot off the presses.
Pingue-Giles led the way with 15 points, but Tiemens, Sokoloff, and Jez all had 10 or more points.
Jez was sharp from beyond the arc tonight, draining 3/4 opportunities.
The Rams finished the game 28/59 from the field (47.5%). Laurentian improved slightly from their disastrous first half, but still only sank 14 of 66 shots (21.2%).
I'm not exactly sure how they shattered the backboard during pre-game, but the Rams are obviously fired up for game time. Just 10 minutes away.
Backboard update: It is still being fixed as we speak. I think the game might be just a little bit late. Stay tuned for more riveting news about the backboard.
There's about 11 people standing around the broken backboard. It remains unfixed and the game is now 8 minutes late.
Throughout the entirety of #BackboardGate the Laurentian squad has continued their pre-game warm-up instead of heading to the dressing room. This is the important stuff, folks.
It's been five minutes since the last backboard update. It. Is. Still. Not. Fixed. This feels like a never-ending saga.
Has Ryerson considered going super old-school? Bring out the peach baskets! The MAC does share a building with a Loblaws after all...
#BackboardGate has officially reached 30 minutes long with no end in sight. Sucking the energy right out of the building.
45 minutes later and this thing is still not fixed. Game time still to be determined. You'd think that the MAC would be better prepared for a broken backboard, because a delay this long is unacceptable.
Laurentian just gave up on their pre-game. May as well have been an hour long practice. They might be a little tired for game time.
It's officially been an hour. I am slowly losing my mind.
BREAKING: The Ryerson Rams Men's basketball game has been postponed due to #BackboardGate. I am in shock.
Thanks for reading this live blog, sorry we couldn't get you some men's basketball action. Until next time.
