Men's Issues Awareness Meeting @ U of T
-
Welcome to the Ryersonian coverage of “Caring About University Men: Why We Need Campus Men’s Centres in a Time of Crisis” presented by the University of Toronto Men’s Issues Awareness Society.
Dr. Miles Groth, editor of New Male Studies journal, will speak on why university men need centres to discuss issues such as a decline in post-secondary enrollment.
The Toronto Men’s Issues Awareness Society, who are affiliated with the Canadian Association for Equality (CAFE), have been criticized for being an anti-feminist group and a front for men’s rights.
Protestors have disrupted the group’s lectures in the past by barring entrance doors and pulling the fire alarm. This week the University of Toronto administration issued the men’s group a $964 security fee for campus police.
It should be an interesting night of discussion on gender. Keep watching the live blog for updates and tweet us your thoughts @theryersonian.
